Following the dispute on a metal detecting forum near you and discussed here, Gill Evans countered allegations that the land on which last year's commercial artefact hunting rally was held was "poor":
maybe it was poor for you Toby but the PAS recorded over 300 finds from that rally[,] they are still updating their databases now and have not put all the stuff on, so some had some luck, which is how it goes with rallies.But I'll bet more than three hundred holes were dug, and more than 300 recordable items hoiked. Anyhow there is some good news. Gill Evans announces (Wed Aug 14, 2013 3:28 pm) on that thread:
