Central Searchers to Give up Organizing Commercial Rallies?

Following the dispute on a metal detecting forum near you and discussed here, Gill Evans countered allegations that the land on which last year's commercial artefact hunting rally was held was "poor":
maybe it was poor for you Toby but the PAS recorded over 300 finds from that rally[,] they are still updating their databases now and have not put all the stuff on, so some had some luck, which is how it goes with rallies.
But I'll bet more than three hundred holes were dug, and more than 300 recordable items hoiked. Anyhow there is some good news. Gill Evans announces (Wed Aug 14, 2013 3:28 pm) on that thread:
Over the years we have had all number of accusations thrown at us[,] it comes with the territory [...] It just the same crap over and over again. Which is why this will be our last ever rally weekend rally let some other mug go through all the hassle its only you detectorists who loose [sic] out in the end.
But the archaeological record wins some respite. But now how will the PAS get their 300 finds for their "wottalotta-stuff-we-got!" database?
